Sri Lankan Cuisine

Sri Lankan cuisine is an incredible fusion of Indian complexity with tropical ingredients and Asian influences. One of the great pleasures of a stay at the villa is the option of enjoying organic farm-to-table meals using homegrown rice, fresh ingredients grown by nearby farmers in the village, and seafood sourced from local fishermen. Dr. Malika is available for personal chef services including from one to three meals per day and is happy to accommodate any dietary preferences you might have. Much of this is traditionally cooked over a fire. Choose from Sri Lankan, Indian, and Western fare-- and as an Ayurvedic doctor, she can provide healing meals from that tradition as well.
Services are offered for a very modest additional charge, price upon request.

The Peacock View Farmhouse

The Space
Welcome to real Sri Lankan life: close to nature, close to amazing surf breaks and soon to be close to your heart!
Nestled down a winding country road in sunny Uruvitiya village, this lovely farmhouse is within 10 minutes of excellent surf breaks and great restaurants at nearby Marissa and Weligama beaches. Look out your windows past your coconut, mango, papaya, ambarella and avocado trees, over your own rice paddy-- all organic and available for your use-- to the hills of the adjoining cinnamon-tree plantation. Take a deep breath of tropical air and relax.
The house itself was recently built on the family plot and was designed to be cooled by the natural breezes of the tranquil, verdant valley it rests in. Each of the upstairs bedrooms has a small private balcony that affords views of the beautiful tropical surroundings, and off the upstairs sitting room is a larger balcony that looks out over the rice paddies-- a great place for bird watching, beers or both. Old and new are here together: the rustic country kitchen retains a traditional Sri Lankan wood-fired cooking hearth, while you'll enjoy these modern conveniences:
- DSL wifi
- desktop pc
- prepaid Sri Lankan cellphone for your use (as well as a land line)
- large flatscreen TV with 45 English-language satellite channels
- washing machine
- hot-water shower
- hair dryer
- clothes iron
- freshly washed towels and locally hand-loomed linens
The caretaker, Mr. Hetti, stays nearby and is available to help you with whatever you might need.
